Resiliency

https://vimeo.com/648263868

"Having an understanding that things don't always go as planned can be really important in building your identity as a team." - Topher Scott

Develop resiliency in your team by focusing on these three areas:

1. Focus On The Process

  • Focus on What You Can Control: instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the long term hopes and fears, it is important to focus on what you can control. You can control your practice or your current shift in a game. Focus on the now and if you do well now, your future will be bright.

2. A Great Bench Will Help

  • Communication: how is the player to player communication and coach to player communication? Is it positive and uplifting or is it negative, critical and quiet? Encourage your players after a tough shift and celebrate goals, hits, good plays on the bench.

3. Create Adversity At Practic

  • Make Practices Harder Than Games: encourage failing, encourage coming together if things are not going well. Create intentional adversity at practice and talk to the team about how to overcome it. If they get comfortable with overcoming things at practice, they will be more likely to do it in a game.
