D-Zone D to D

Get Full Access

In this drill we are working on moving the puck D to D in our own zone. The focus is on getting our heads up coming out of our breaks and looking for smart passes.

To start the drill the coach dumps a puck into the corner. The D will retrieve the puck using good fundamentals like shoulder checking and deception. When they turn up ice they regroup and pass the puck to the other D who is supporting behind the net. This D will then get their head up and move their feet up ice. They can do a move on the dummy before regrouping again behind the net. After a few repetitions the center can come in for support and finish off the drill.
