Chabot Gains the Middle of the Ice on Power Play

https://vimeo.com/903761294

One of the important elements of getting set up on a power play is to gain the middle of the ice high in the zone with the puck. When you do this you become a threat and open up options. In this clip Thomas Chabot does a nice job of receiving the puck and getting to the middle right away. It is a a good clip for any player that will be running the power play to watch.

What to Watch

  • Chabot retrieves the puck and gains the middle as quickly as he can with no hesitation
  • As he sucks in a penalty killer then he distributes the puck back to the half wall
  • When he sucks the penalty killer out then it opens up a seam through the slot area
  • The supporting player that receives the puck at the half wall makes a quick pass through this seam
