Weak Side Wing Slashes Through Neutral Zone by Penguins

https://vimeo.com/874664873

In this clip the Penguins show a great example of how the weak side wing can support through the neutral zone. Some coaches call this "slashing" through the neutral zone.

What to Watch

  • The Penguins defense receives the puck well outside the dots and makes a strong pass to the strong side wing.
  • The wing is facing the defense so they are protecting the puck from the opponents defender.
  • The Penguin's weak side wing support by "slashing" though the neutral zone.
  • The Penguin's center stays well below the puck.
  • Once the puck is chipped into space for the weak side wing the center beats the opponents players up the ice to create a 2 on 1.
