Breakout into Attack with Added D Shot

Breakout into Attack with Added D Shot
By: Dwayne Blais

D1 will start on the defensive zone dot. F1 and F2 will start at the red line. D1 will skate above top of circle and transition back for a D Zone retrieval using shoulder checks and evasive footwork and complete a 'quick up' with the coach on the half wall. Coach will chip the puck back into the corner. D1 will continue to top of the circles and retrieve the puck again but this time will wheel under pressure and open up the weak side of the ice. F1 and F2 will time it and simulate a breakout with F1 being an option on the wall and F2 supporting low and slow through the middle (both forwards are expected to scan repeatedly as they get set for the breakout). D1 will hit F1 and F1 will read pressure from the coach and either make a direct pass to F2 or an indirect chip into the neutral zone for F2. F2 will attack the far end. After pass or chip F1 (in red on drawing) will get on side and attempt to turn the 1-on-1 into a soft 2-on-1 creating either a wide shot with a drive/net front presence or a high pass for a quick shot with outside guy driving. D1 after outlet pass will continue to blueline and get a pass from the coach (after initial shot) and get a second shot from the blue line.

*We will add pressure onto the D forcing him to read pressure and find a shooting lane.
