Matty Beniers Changes Angle by Pulling Puck Into His Feet

https://vimeo.com/913808145

This is a nice goal by Matty Beniers of the Seattle Kraken. Many players will settle for the shot from outside the dots in this situation but you will see how Beniers creates a better angle for the shot.

What to Watch

  • As he enters the zone he creates a wide base and sits on his inside edges
  • His head is up and he is scanning the ice for information and to provide deception
  • The puck is off his hip in attack position to keep it away from the defender's stick
  • He slides towards the middle of the ice and pulls the puck into his feet to give himself a better angle and force the goalie to adjust to the changing angle
