Playing a 2 on 1 as the defensive player your goals are to force a shot from the outside and not let a pass cross in front of your goalie. Manson does a really nice job of both in this clip.

What to Watch

Manson recognizes the 2 vs 1 and quickly eliminates a chance for a pass high in the zone
He does this with good awareness, stick position, and body position
Once he reads the puck carrier will shoot he lays out and makes a pass across his goal almost impossible
When he lays out he is between the near post and the puck carrier
