5 on 3 Power Play Box and One Option by Sabres

The box and one is a popular power play option for 5 on 3 power plays. It presents a lot of options and is very difficult to defend. In this clip the Buffalo Sabres recognize the pressure coming out high so they use a down low option.

What to Watch

On possession the players at the top switch so they are on their off-hands and can release a one-timer if wanted.
The opponents pressure high to defend against a shot coming from one of these two players.
The player with the puck recognizes two opponents pressuring high so they move the puck low.
The low player has two options back door and in front of the net.
Notice that when the player down low on the right side has the puck all of the passing options are left handed and can facilitate a one-timer.
