2nd Player Support Wins Puck for Toronto

https://vimeo.com/901859916

The concept of 2nd player support is a really important one to keep introducing to young hockey players. If your 2nd player can beat the other team's 2nd player to the area of a 1 on 1 battle then you will usually win puck possession. Toronto give us another example of this concept in this clip.

What To Watch

  • A Toronto player races to the puck against a forechecker
  • As they arrive at the puck the Toronto players gets good body position and gets under the stick
  • This leaves the puck for an incoming 2nd player support which wins the puck for Toronto and leads to a zone exit
