1) Social Aspects (events)
Parents getting along and being on the same page is just as important as the kids getting along on the ice for a successful season.
Some ideas --- Team meals, Have a Social Coordinator to plan events, hotel hangout on travel weekends, etc...
2) Different Parent Roles
There is more buy in when parents get involved with the team.
Some ideas --- Parents in charge of: Locker room key, penalty box, statistics, scorebox, music, planning team meals, etc. The more people feel involved the more they usually buy into the team and provide an impact.
3) Parent Behavior in Stands:
Try to avoid a negative parent culture in the stands during games. Examples include screaming at the refs, coaches, other players, manager etc. Even if it’s just a few parents, it can affect an entire team’s morale. Being positive and energetic is necessary for the overall enjoyment and success of the whole group.
4) Try and avoid gossip
If there are issues, address them and don’t resort to talking behind people’s back and forming cliques. These things breed negativity and lead to a negative and draining experience for everyone.
Be proactive and build your strong, positive parent and team culture!
