Shot, Pass, Backcheck

Get Full Access

This drill focuses on a very important detail when it comes to being a strong defensive minded team. The first player starts at the blue line and moves to the high slot where they receive a pass from the corner. After the shot, the player STOPS, and backchecks in a straight line to the near post in an effort to cut off player number 2. Player number takes off right after they make the first pass to player number 1 and they receive a pass from the defense as they cross the blue line. Player 2 must go to the outside of the cone and drive to the net for the shot. The defense who made the pass to player 2 then follows the play and receives a pass from player 3, who was second in line behind player 1. The defense receives the pass and pulls up at the blue line to take a shot from the point. Player 1 & 2 battle in front of the net. Player 2 is trying to screen the goalie and tip the defense's shot while player 1 is trying to tie up forward 2 to prevent the screen or tip.
