Blue Line 1 vs. 1

Get Full Access

On the whistle, F1 and F2 skate behind the net and receive a pass from the second player in line. At the same time, D1 and D2 start by skating from the neutral zone face off dot to the boards (forwards).  Then the defense skate backwards along the blue line until they pick up the attacking forward for a 1 on 1 sutuation.  The tendency for the defense is to break out of their backwards skating and turn forwards to catch up with the oncoming forward.  The defense need to remain skating backwards as this drill tries to force them to increase their backwards skating speed.  It should be a tough drill for the defense.
