Zone Entry - Phil Kessel Drive Wide and Cutting Hands

https://vimeo.com/857283816

Cutting the hands of defenders is a great way to attack on rushes and entries as it allows you to gain valuable ice while protecting the puck.  This is a great example to show your player of how to use your body positioning to cutting through the hands to gain the middle of the ice and create opportunities.

What to Watch

  • Kessel Picks Up Puck In NZ & Proceeds To Drive Wide On D
  • As He Proceeds To Cut Towards The Net He Makes Sure To Protect The Puck From The Defenders Stick With His Body
  • Using His Body He Cuts Through The Hands Of The Defender Rendering His Hands & Stick Useless, Creating A Line To The Net
