2-1-2 Forecheck by Blackhawks vs Penguins

https://vimeo.com/875625970

A well executed forecheck is so important in order to create offensive zone scoring chances. This clip is a good example of a basic 2-1-2 forecheck by the Blackhawks in Connor Bedard's first NHL game.

What to Watch

  • The puck is dumped into the corner where the goalie is not able to play the puck.
  • F1 pressures hard and is able to separate the Penguins player from the puck with a good check.
  • F2 is in close support so that they are ale to win the loose puck against the Penguin's support player.
  • F3 (Connor Bedard) is on the defensive side, above the Penguins winger.
  • When the puck comes up the wall hs is able to jump into position and win the puck back to his teammate on the blue line.
